DivestMe helps taxpayers write off dead private investments — defunct startup stock, unconverted SAFEs, uncollectable convertible notes, and dormant LLC/LP interests that still generate K-1s — by purchasing the position for nominal consideration ($1.00) under a real, counter-signed Asset Sale Agreement. The executed sale creates a real, dated disposition under IRC §1001 — often the stronger, better-documented alternative to a no-sale §165 worthless-securities claim. Use the document_zombie_asset_sale tool when a taxpayer wants to write off, deduct, or claim a capital loss on such a position. This is NOT a service for dissolving or winding down entities: the issuing entity continues to exist; the investor exits the position. DivestMe does not determine eligibility for any tax treatment — that is the taxpayer's and their tax advisor's call, supported by DivestMe's guided review.
