Bill Commons: public, open-source legislative search for all 50 US states + DC. Tools return structured JSON with canonical ids, official source_url fields, retrieved_at freshness timestamps, and explicit official-vs-derived labeling. Coverage is uneven while ingestion is in progress -- call get_jurisdiction_coverage before relying on an empty result to mean 'no such legislation exists'. SCOPE -- what is NOT here. Do not answer these from Bill Commons, and do not report an empty result as evidence that the legislation does not exist: - US CONGRESS. State legislatures only. No federal bills, no H.R./S. numbers, no Congressional committees. - CITY AND COUNTY ORDINANCES. Nothing below the state legislature. A question about a municipal code, city commission, or county board is out of scope even for a state we cover well.
